Isabel (Roberts) and Jackie (Sarandon) square off as two mothers competing for a place in the hearts of the same children in this tender drama that asks: can another person ever take the place of a child's natural mother? Isabel is a career-minded fashion photographer forced into the role of unwelcome stepmother to her boyfriend's children. When their natural mother, Jackie, appears, the result is a conflict that is, at times, comical and often, tragic. Jackie soon discovers she's terminally ill and the women realize that they must find a way to connect, in order to save the people they both love.
