Faith healer Jonas Nightingale suits up for divine inspiration as he leads a traveling revival show into the little town of Rushwater. While he 'preaches' to his innocent flock, his beautiful assistant Jane is busy scouting out physical problems in the audience, and then informing him about it through an earpiece. The audience buys it, but the skeptical sheriff doesn't. He sees Nightingale for the fraud that he is and wants to expose him. Jane is sent to seduce the lawman, but falls in love with him instead.
