In a remote ward in a hospital, a Dr Malcolm Sayer (Williams) finds a group of patients with serious neurological diseases waiting to be heard. Problem is, they can't speak, move or do anything whatsoever to communicate what's going on in their minds because they have been in a coma for years. The doctor then discovers a possible cure and tests it on the patients.
