A unique spin is given to the chilling tale of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by telling it through the eyes of Mary Reilly (Roberts), a housemaid of Dr Henry Jekyll (Malkovich). A simple and naive woman with a past she would rather forget, Mary thinks that she has finally found a safe haven in the service of the gentle Dr. Jekyll. However, the entrance of Dr. Jekyll's mysterious assistant - Mr. Hyde, propels Mary into an internal conflict. While devoted to the brilliant Dr. Jekyll, she finds herself drawn to Mr. Hyde. As Hyde grows stronger, Jekyll weakens, and it is up to Mary to unravel the awful, unholy truth.
