Letting go is harder for some people than it is for others. For David Lewis (Gallagher), it's impossible. He refuses to accept the fact that his wife, Gillian (Pfeiffer), has died tragically, so much so that she even appears to return to him from beyond the grave. As the family celebrates the Labor Day weekend, relationships are re-examined and truths revealed. When David discovers that his obsession with Gillian is about to damage his precious relationship with his daughter Rachel (Danes), he realizes that he must do something to regain his daughter's love, even if it means letting go of his beloved Gillian.
