Set against the backdrop of the pilots who fly water planes to fight forest fires, the film is a triumph. Pete Sandich (Dreyfuss), the greatest flier of them all, is killed in the line of duty while saving his best friend’s life and leaves a broken-hearted Dorinda (Hunter) behind. But the end is yet to come as he is sent back in the form of a ghost to train a successor who he finds is slowly falling for Dorinda.
