A lot has changed since the Ghostbusters last saved the world. Dr. Peter Venkman (Murray) now hosts a talk show on parapsychology, Dr. Ray Stantz (Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) make a living entertaining at children's birthday parties, and Dr. Egon Spengler (Ramis) continues to research the effect of human emotions on psycho-magnetic energy fields. However, when Dana Barrett's (Weaver) eight-month-old son becomes the target of demons, she calls the team back from retirement.
