In 1963, civil rights leader Medgar Evers was murdered in his own driveway. For over 30 years, his assassin remained free. Beginning with the murder and the events surrounding the two initial trials which both ended in a hung jury, this taut courtroom drama takes us through the final trial of the assassin, Byron De La Beckwith (Woods). District Attorney Bobby DeLaughter's (Baldwin) alliance with Myrlie Evers (Goldberg), widow of Medgar Evers, drives this relentless mission. For the third time 30 years later, they try to bring Beckwith to justice.
