Surfing legend Mitch Yost finds his grandson Shaun asking agent Linc - who caused the drug-addled mess that his son Butchie is going through - to be his sponsor. Mitch forbids his wife Cissy to let Shaun go to Huntington but she gets him to go anyway while Butchie takes John, a young stranger, under his wing. Mitch and Butchie spark a face-off at Snug Harbor, culminating in a tense hold-up involving Cissy, John, Shaun, Bill and the police.
